Yeti sb150 Review
Overview:
The sb150 is Yeti’s dedicated enduro race bike that has been ridden to victory on the EWS by Richie Rude and others. My dad got the chance to demo it, and I took a couple of laps to get a feel for how this bike rides, although it’s worth noting that I was riding a bike for my dad’s size, with the suspension set up for his weight so this review will include a combination of both of our thoughts on the bike.
Climbing:
My dad instantly noticed that this bike climbed extremely well. Although it was significantly heavier than his Santa Cruz Hightower LT, it had little to no peddle bob with Yeti’s Switch Infinity suspension platform. Although I had limited climbing time on this bike, I noticed very similar things.
Descending:
This bike is fast. The sb150 always felt like a really fast rolling bike on the descents with nothing to stop it and I would love to race this thing. It was also great on the tech, eating up every rock straight ahead which led me to think this bike would do great in the bike park. However on tighter terrain, this bike did not perform nearly as well because it is so long. Another drawback I noticed was how it jumped. The sb150 doesn’t want to pop off a jump like the Transition Sentinel or Santa Cruz Bronson, instead absorbing it for speed. Basically, if you want to get big air or just play around, this is not the bike for you.
Verdict:
The Yeti sb150 is a pure race bike and nothing else. Although it isn’t the best bike for everyone, I think it would be great for the person that wants to go mach speed whenever possible.
