Overview:

The Pit is a small, hidden jump zone in Brooklyn. There are a few different jump lines, and while most of them are gaps, there are a few beginner friendly jumps as well. There is also a little trail to get there that has some fun roots to pop off.

Pros:

This is a great spot to improve your jumping technique since unlike most jumps in the city, the Pit was designed specifically for mountain bikes rather than BMX. You’ll find lines for all skill levels, and a few that will definitely test you.

Cons:

I’m not exactly sure whether these jumps are legal but they’ve been here for at least 10 years without getting taken down so I suppose that’s a good sign. However, when I went there I found a few riders smoking weed around a fireplace in the middle of Brooklyn which is definitely not a good sign. There also isn’t much technical riding here and you’ll only find jumps with the occasional root.

Rating: N/A

I’m not going to rate this place since it’s more of a jump park than a trail system, and comparing it to actual trails would be unfair. However, for a dirt jump spot the Pit is pretty great and I would recommend putting it on your radar if you’re into this sort of thing.
