Perry Hill

Overview:

Perry Hill is located just outside of Waterbury, VT and is a small trail network that has a lot to offer. There are around 6 downhill trails, however many of them can be linked up in order to form two different long routes down the mountain (Joe’s to S’mores to Disneyland and Rastaman by itself).

Pros:

Perry Hill has a whole lot to offer that will satisfy all skill levels and riding styles. Joe’s is the perfect place for some jagged double black rock slabs with tons of line options that will challenge you. S’mores is a very well designed flow trail that can be enjoyed by all abilities, however there are tons of doubles to be found, and Disneyland combines both trails with jagged rock slabs into flowy corners with some really gnarly extra credit lines and is also my favorite trail on the hill. However, there are a few trails there I have yet to ride, most notably Rastaman which looks like a ton of fun with woodwork and a monster rock slab. If all those trails seem a bit too gnarly there’s always the double track at the bottom of the mountain which is surprisingly fun and has a lot of cool dirt wall rides and berms that can be doubled from one to another.

Cons:

One thing I found surprising about Perry Hill was the dirt. Despite being nestled in the center of Vermont, far away from the ocean, there was still lots of dust and sand there. If you watch a video of the rock slabs on Joe’s, you might be fooled into thinking they’re as grippy as Squamish, or even New Hampshire, but that is not the case. There were many spots that I slid out on, or couldn’t control my speed on due to the loose soil. Another negative for some people is that this place doesn’t have much pure downhill riding. Almost every trail has some climbing on it, however you can hit S’mores and Disneyland if you want uninterrupted downhill riding.

Rating: 8.5/10

I think almost everyone will have fun riding at Perry Hill. Did I forget to mention there’s even a pump track in the parking lot? Anyways, you’re bound to find something here that will either amuse or challenge you, and that’s a promise.
